In
The FACTS exhibition is brought together as an ongoing response to
my experiences as teacher and the artist in residence at Blundell's
School in Tiverton, Devon. The results are a project concerned with
exploring hierarchical and dichotic structures of power and their
affects on how the artist functions in a personal, social and academic
context. In the FACTS exhibition space the artist will reconsider
the Blundel's residency and the MA course through live action and
documentation over a four day period.
FACTS will reconsider what may or may not have happened. FACTS
will be a document. FACTS will be art. FACTS will be the here and
now and what came before. FACTS may be critical, FACTS may be poetic.
FACTS are all that is wrong and everything that is right. FACTS are
an authentic fake. FACTS only break the rules with prior consent.
FACTS is the institution, the oppressor and the oppressed, the initiator
and the initiated. FACTS may be hazardous to health. FACTS is a meaningless
dichotomy wrapped up in a romantic vision of creative expression.
FACTS are social yet solitary. FACTS welcome visitors from a safe
distance. |
