Prior
to beginning the MA I exhibited and sold my work in galleries and
through commission; a professional artist with a full time practice,
I worked chiefly with printmaking. I made what I hoped was uplifting
pieces, some of which are installed in therapeutic environments, such
as hospitals.
Always interested in the natural world, my research is about ecology,
and related phenomenological studies. My concern about the state of
the earth and mankind’s enormous impact on it has led me to
question whether or not the artist has anything to offer to help the
deteriorating situation.
Currently leaning more about process - led art, I am moving towards
a more diverse methodology. Experiments with sound and video are leading
me into new pastures.
I hope to expand my practice to encompass these and other techniques,
whilst approaching my work from a more speculative point of view,
instead of the rather graphic, formalist position I tended to take
in the past. |
